Heritage Tour

Join one of our local Tour Guides for a guided tour of Muskegon's historic downtown. Learn about the history of Muskegon and its people while discovering local sites of interest. Sites include breathtaking Queen Anne style Victorian mansions, a historic train depot, fire barn museum, Muskegon Museum of Art, Heritage Museum of Business & Industry, the historic Frauenthal theater and many more.

Best of Muskegon

Step back in time to the Victorian Era! Tour the Queen Anne style Victorian mansions of two of Muskegon's most prominent lumber barons. Stop at the Muskegon Heritage Museum where you will experience the economic, industrial, and social history of the region. Finally, visit the LST 393 Veterans Museum and step aboard the LST. Tour the historic warship and view thousands of artifacts in the museum.

Beach Adventure

Join us as we visit a local treasure - the golden sandy shores of Muskegon's premiere Lake Michigan beach at Pere Marquette Park! Unrestricted views of Lake Michigan with over 2 miles of beautiful sandy shoreline. Take in the sights and sounds of the beach, such as beach volleyball, kite surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, jet skiing, and boating. Go aboard a retired WWII submarine or visit the submarine museum’s exhibits.

Maritime Experience

The Port of Muskegon has experienced over 100 years of maritime activity. This rich maritime history is the focal point of this highly rated/extremely popular tour. A local guide will share the fascinating history and stories of the ships that have plied Muskegon’s waters. Visit three majestic and historic vessels and explore the captivating stories behind each. Visit the SS Milwaukee Clipper, passenger ship known as the “Queen of the Great Lakes,” the decorated WWII USS Silversides submarine, and one of two remaining LSTs, the LST 393 Veterans Museum.

Sand Dune & Winery

You will experience the Lake Michigan Sand Dunes like never before on this one-of-a-kind 40-minute dune ride on a fully accessible Dune Scooter! You can get out at Lake Michigan for a quick visit and then drive to one of the tallest dunes on the Silver Lake side for an exceptional view and an opportunity to capture breathtaking photos. Next, stop at a Michigan winery where you will sample a selection of wines that are 100% sourced from their vineyard. Taste the delicious flavor characteristics from the unique climate of west-central Michigan.

Amazing Architecture

Enjoy a guided tour to some of Muskegon's architectural gems. You will learn about Muskegon's past while viewing jaw dropping architecture such as Richardsonian Romanesque, American Romanesque, Moorish/Spanish Renaissance, Queen Ann Victorian, Gothic, Italianate, and Georgian Revival. Optionally, visit an American Romanesque style building, a towered Richardsonian, and/or a Moorish/Spanish Renaissance building. Finish the tour with an optional "Cheese 101" discussion, complete with extensive sampling.

Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum-Gravesite

Did you know President Gerald R. Ford grew up in Michigan? His boyhood home is in Muskegon's neighboring city of Grand Rapids. At the Gerald R. Ford Museum you will experience highlights from President and Mrs. Ford's lives. Learn about President Ford's early life in Grand Rapids, football career at the University of Michigan, his time serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, and as Vice President and Ultimately as President of the United States. While there, you will also be able to visit the gravesites of both Gerald and Betty Ford.

Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park

Experience masterpieces of art and nature! Enjoy one of the nation's premier horticultural display gardens and sculpture parks. A guided tram tour will take you through the 158-acre park while you view striking gardens with fine art and an array of trees, plants, and flowers. Gardens include a tropical conservatory, Japanese garden, English perennial garden, a Michigan farm garden, an arid garden, carnivorous plant house, and more! The sculpture collection, ranked in the top 45 most-visited art museums worldwide, features more than 200 works.

Visit Lake Michigan & Sand Dunes

Visit the second largest Great Lake - Lake Michigan! Explore the spectacular Lake Michigan shoreline with miles of sparkling fresh water, sandy beaches, and towering sand dunes, and over 2 miles of beautiful sandy beach. Walk along the shoreline, step into the water, stroll out onto the pier, visit the historic lighthouses, and snap some amazing photographs. Take in a presentation on Michigan's sand dunes and unique geology. A state park guide will take you for a short hike to the beach where you will experience breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and sand dunes.

Sweet Freedom Veteran Sites Tour

Muskegon honors the men and women of the United States Armed Services with local attractions such as a WWII submarine, a WWII LST Veterans museum, and a Vietnam War memorial. This tour will visit the LST 393 Veterans Museum, where you can step aboard one of two LST's (Landing Ship Tank) remaining out of 1051 built during WWII. We will also visit the USS Silversides Submarine Museum, a Gato class WWII Submarine. The final stop on this tour is at "Final Approach", a UH-1D 'Huey' helicopter that is a combat veteran of the Vietnam War.

Art Tour

Muskegon boasts a collection of nearly 60 works of public art in the downtown area alone, the first work dating back to 1892, with the most recent installed in 2022! This guided tour includes viewing many of these works of art, and provides the origins and background of each piece. You will learn the history of Muskegon through the stories of these pieces of art. Also available is a tour of the Frauenthal Center and Theater, the Moorish or Spanish renaissance architectural style building and theater. This stunning theater should not be missed.

Beach Towns Tour

Let Muskegon Tour Company introduce you to the beautiful West Michigan Beach Towns of Muskegon, Grand Haven, and Holland. Take a tour of Muskegon's historic downtown, visit Pere Marquette Park, famous for unrestricted views of Lake Michigan, visit Coast Guard City USA - where you will travel down the historic downtown street and visit the city's waterfront where you will view the popular boardwalk along the Grand River. Finally take a trip to Holland, where you will visit an authentic Dutch windmill and visit a lavish 12,000+ square foot mansion.

Muskegon Craft Brewery Tour

Muskegon is the home to many local breweries and each have their own distinctive style and atmosphere … and great beer! This tour takes you to several craft breweries where you will learn about the beers and enjoy a flight or two. You will have an opportunity to learn about the brewing and canning process, as well as historic ties to Muskegon's past. From a former bank complete with vault, turned into a tasting room, to tables made from reclaimed logs from Muskegon Lake, to tasting rooms with towering stainless steel tanks, the locations are as impressive as the beer!

Horse Drawn Carriage Rides

Are you planning a romantic evening, marriage proposal, anniversary celebration, wedding, Quinceañera, or just looking for a nostalgic ride on a horse drawn carriage? The Muskegon Tour Company is here to help. Choose from a variety of carriages: a charming open air white carriage, an elegant hunter green carriage, an authentic antique town coach from England, or a sleigh. Enjoy a guided tour of downtown Muskegon, or you can request your own route, guided or unguided. Horse drawn wagons are also available for groups of 12-15 people. Minimum booking times/rates apply.

Bicycle or e-Bike Tour

Take a guided tour along a premier biking trail or along city streets with points of interest in and around Muskegon and learn about the history of Muskegon, its neighborhoods, and the area around Muskegon Lake. Your mode of transportation will be a standard bicycle or an e-bike (electric bike). Muskegon Tour Company will offer storytelling, fun, and entertainment to your ride.
